Must See: A little kid singing 'Folsom Prison Blues'
0 comments Posted by Jake at Thursday, July 30, 2009This kid is five years old, sports a He-Man/Prince Adam of Eternia haircut, plays a toy guitar and sings with an adorable little speech impediment (I'm stuck in Folsom Pwison...)
Extra points for the 'The Who' t-shirt...
Although this is not the most life-like recreation of Mark Hamill I've ever seen, nor the most convenient flash drive ever (heck, it's not convenient at all - look at the last picture I posted on here), it is still cool.
What better way to prove your geekiness than to use your laptop upside down to allow your Luke Skywalker USB drive to remain upright?

We know that cars get ridiculously hot in the summer, so put that heat to good use and bake some cookies in your car!
Simply placing the cookies on the dash does not brown the cookies, but I wonder if there are a few minor enhancements involving tin foil that would help get you closer to that perfect cookie.

A movie theater giving a gentle reminder that Bruno really is that offensive.
I've heard about this, but never knew there was a video of it! Buzz Aldrin punches a guy in the face after being accused of lying about the moon landing. This just takes all of the astronauts up a notch or two in my mind: they really are that badass!
At the time this occurred, Aldrin was 72 years old.

Nirvana vs. Rick Astley - "Never Gonna Give Your Teen Spirit up"

I didn't like this at first, but it has grown on me. The vocals on the chorus do not quite match up with the pitch of the music, but the beat is spot on and I just can't deny the brilliance of the premise. The music video improves upon the simple musical mashup by magically making it look like Kurt Cobain is singing a few select lyrics.

The worst of "Do it yourself" culture has manifest itself:
From the plywood car door (with complimentary chain and padlock despite a still-missing window)
To the skateboard "spare tire"
To the plastic-lined El Camino truck bed serving as a swimming pool
Human ingenuity proves to sometimes just be really dumb.
Also:
In-window air conditioner unit installed into a car and powered by a gas generator.
A missing front-wheel of a bike replaced by a shopping cart (to be fair, the guy's from tire was probably swiped while he was at the grocery store)
Sharpie paint-job on a car
Flashlights duct-taped to the front of a car whose headlights were recently smashed in a wreck.

We all know keyboard cat. Now meet his distant cousin, Piano Cat. Beautifully composed and recorded, an orchestra accompanies a pre-recorded and edited video of a cat "playing" the piano.
Enjoyable throughout, the cat does not begin until about 1:05. My favorite is the melody played by the cat at 2:52, which is then echoed by the orchestra.
Although slightly gimmicky, this is real music, and I would enjoy it without knowing it was a cat playing the piano.

Vague, but true tales of animal violence (WARNING: the stories are not true)
0 comments Posted by Jake at Tuesday, July 28, 2009Off the wall and often funny explanations for the weirdest images on the web. Presented as a 'news' site, such stories as:
"Humans Rode Dinosaurs"
Creation Museum officials report they have found proof when Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden of Eden they left on the backs of friendly dinosaurs.
"Armed dolphins are loose"
Chagrined Navy officers admit that several dolphins with poison dart guns attached to their flippers have escaped their enclosures and have been seen stalking bathers along Texas beaches.
"Heroic Warriors Battle Carp"
All of these stories run alongside strange pictures, photoshopped images, and photos of questionable content. Most of the 'stories' are about animals, but are not exclusive in their subject matter.

Star Wars according to a 3 year old. You know, "Obee-Kanobee" and "shiny guy who worries". Adorable, funny.

So, just how much money is the company blowing through simply by holding that meeting? Enter the average hourly wage of all people present at your meeting, the number of people there, and click 'Start'! Like a cab meter, it will just keep on ticking up and up. When the meeting is over, click 'Stop The Bleeding' to see the final total of the money spent just to keep everyone there during the meeting.

"Forever Zoom" - a mosaic, where a picture is made up of many smaller pictures. Zoom in to get a closer look at the pictures comprising the original image, and you will see that those smaller pictures, too, are made up of smaller pictures. This process can continue as long as you find it interesting - which for Bill, means he's already done.

Paper clips "dance" on the floor of a bullet train in Japan. The electromagnets that are used to propel the train along cause enough magnetic force to get the paperclips to stand on end.
Hundreds, thousands of videos strung together of people moonwalking. Of course, moonwalking on this site is defined as "moving across the screen from left to right". A few are actually pretty good at it, though.

Darth Vader gets his Christmas wish! The shortest and funniest video I have seen since the Dramatic Chipmunk.

By strategically planting different variety of rice (each with their own unique color) these Japanese farmers have forever shamed the American tradition of crop circles. Impressive works of art, samurai, cartoon characters, ducks, cows and ladybugs!

Adam, the Alter-Ego of He-Man, sings 4 Non-Blondes' "What's Up" (aka "What's going On?") with an irresistible dance beat and more emotion than one would think him capable of. The video is created by manipulating footage from the original series to sync with the song.
Except for the massive boots, "Prince Adam" is the polar opposite of 4 Non-Blondes' Linda Perry. Here's the video of the original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?

A Photoshop contest to create the most 'realistic' looking upside-down celebrity face: They are presented with the face right-side up and the body upside-down. Freakiness ensues.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Sharon Stone are surprisingly popular choices, as are Bruce Willis and Anthony Hopkins.
A flying Superman with an upside-down face is more than a little confusing.
